James has gone out today for a man date.
He and two aviation college friends of his (who he has worked with in one flying job or another since they graduated) are going out for lunch.
I thought about when I go out with my girlfriends and talk and suddenly felt a pang of jealousy. I wanted to go too! But then I thought some more.
Things I would bet won’t be the topic of conversation:
-The latest cute pair of boxers they bought
-How annoying it is when their spouse leaves the toilet seat down
-How much their feet have grown since they became dads and how sad it is that most of their favourite shoes won’t fit now
-Whether they wax, shave or tweeze
-How many lbs they have to lose
-How having children has ruined their breasts, how fab their breasts once were.
-Sex and how insecure they might feel with the lights on.
-Which way their hair looks better, which jeans look better on them, collard shits or tee’s?
I suddenly feel happy to stay home, visit the pilots wives club, and have decided its time my girlfriend and I go for a night out…
I should call her and see if she can recommend a shirt that does something for these Ziploc bags I call boobs.

I miss hanging out with friends my own age. Most of my co-workers are very young chicas.
ReplyDeleteFunny, as a young mom I have the same problem. The moms at the mom tot groups today all seem to be 40 somethings who have had their career etc... I was lucky to pick up one good girlfriend who was my age going to those things!
