I am not sure how else to say it.
I am not a peeping Tanya, I am not a pervert (okay well maybe a little bit of one).
But I want to take pictures of people. Naked people.
When I was a child, I used to love to draw. I drew person, after person, after person. Faces, arms, legs, feet, hands – I loved to draw hands. I would have loved to have drawn more but even at a young age what was proper and what wasn’t was obvious enough, and so I drew people, with clothing on.
I am not referring to lewd or indecent material. I have no desire to shoot a photo that is meant for a smut mag. I just love the human body, big, little, skinny, fat, old, young.
I think that we are all so beautiful in some way or another – and which we could all see it through someone else’s eyes.
I think I would truly enjoy taking photos of people. It is something I am going to try and start to do.
James bought me a nice Canon DSLR for Christmas. We shall see what I can do with it.

I love this. I think your perspective is great. We all are beautiful in some way. The body is a miracle. The form, movement, variety of shapes, colors, stage in life.
ReplyDeleteWhen my babies were born, especially my first, I wanted to take naked pics of them because of their beautiful little bodies. I didn't bcz I didn't want to be arrested or accused (pre-digital) of something.
I get what you are saying.
I wish people (media) would take more pics of real women without digitally slimming them, etc. Did you see the documentary (?) where a normal --more plump than skinny -- woman's picture was posted on NY's Time Square? She was in her underwear and face was hidden.
ReplyDeletePasser-by's were asked their opinion. They were all positive: nice curves, full and attractive -- men and women commented.
The actual woman was very surprised. She had had a negative self-image and thought her body as disgusting.
The eye -- or lens -- of the beholder...
Along the same lines, I think its interesting that they did a study (James told me this so I don't have details on who 'they' were) but they took one magazine / fashion typical skinny chick, and one normal chick (curves etc). They asked both men and women who had a nicer body.
ReplyDeleteWomen said the skinny one.
Men said the other!
:)
I love to take pictures. I am more into wildlife though. I have heard that taking pictures of people should have a greater priority because people change and grow all the time. Different expressions, actions, etc.
ReplyDeletePriority?
ReplyDeleteWho felt they had the right to tell you who/what to take photos of?? lol
I could argue that wildlife has more priority as wildlife does not post. You are capturing a photo that is as candid as candid can be.
Animals are true nature. Their expressions do not change because of a camera in their face. They grow and change just like we do. My puppy/adult/middle aged dog didn't look the same from one stage to the next and had beautiful moments at each milestone!
You photography whatever you like! xo
Sorry,
ReplyDelete"I could argue that wildlife has more priority as wildlife does not pose"
is how the above sentence should read. 'post' was a typo.
